| For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life--Jesus Christ. |
| Hey there! This is David Valderrama. As the Lord called me, I began to carry a cross September 10, 2007. To view photos and testimonies of journeys look on the right side of this page. Links to each journey are to the right of this paragraph under the word "Journeys." I have carried the cross about 1,110 miles and plan on continuing until the Lord takes away my breath. If I had a thousand gallons of blood in my body, I would spill it all for the sake of my Lord Jesus Christ--John Bunyan. “I gave My back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting (Isaiah 50:6).” The feet used to kick Him, He came to wash. He reached out His hands to us in love, and we nailed them to a wooden cross. They pulled out His beard, but this only pulled Him closer. Love reached out to sinful humanity. Humanity saw love for the first time. This was a new kind of love. Satan wanted Jesus to prove He was the Son of God. The religious leaders of Israel wanted Him to prove He was the Son of God. The Roman soldiers wanted Him to prove that He was the son of God. He healed the lepers, raised several from the dead, had powers over the laws of the universe, cured a man who was blind from birth, He told one who couldn't walk for 38 years to rise up on his feet, and he did. He fulfilled all the scriptures that foretold of Him. Yet many still asked to see a sign. They wanted to see miracles. They wanted entertainment, like a magician does when He performs signs. Yet it wasn't until He was on the cross, bleeding and dying for our sins, and He cried, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do,” that some trembled and said, “Truly, this was the Son of God (Matthew 27:54).” These covenant people of God did not know God for God is love. At the cross, the sweetest love, endured the agonies of the bitterest hatred. The humility of God is when He sent His beloved Son to wash the filthy feet of men. The humility of God is the dying Savior in need of man's help to carry His cross. He could have called on angels to strengthen Him or healed Himself, but He suffered and died as a human being. And today, He still needs our help to carry His cross. It is a wicked lie to say that Jesus did not suffer as a man. When God made Him sin with our sins, the Light of the world lost His shine. Darkness covered the land. It was the darkest moment of all the ages past or to come. What was happening in heaven during His crucifixion? Was there silence? Or did the angels even cry louder, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty?” |
